Hi guys

I got a VDSL line installed last week but we haven't been able to connect at all and I suspect it's a router issue. I was given a router by a friend who has updated his, and have been trying to nail down for certain whether it is actually compatible with a VDSL line - checked forums all over and info is very conflicted, with some people saying it definitely isn't compatible and others claiming the latest firmware update makes it compatible.

If any of you happen to know about this, could you please give me a definitive answer before I go and spend money unnecessarily on a new router? It's a Netgear DGND3700v2 model. Have enquired with Telkom, who had so many conflicting answers...one tech support guy told me no Netgear routers work with VDSL at all, and yet there's a Netgear VDSL modem for sale on the Telkom website >.<

The router specs indicate it's cross-compatible with all lines, including fibre. I might just be flat out of luck with this particular connection.

Two important settings for VDSL:
1) VDSL PPPoE type must be "VDSL over PTM" and not "ATM".
2) The VLAN 802.1p setting must be set to "0" and 802.1q must be "835".

VDSL Connection Stats:
Mode: VDSL2 Annex B
VDSL Profile: Profile 17a
Traffic Type: PTM Mode

And lastly, try to setup a normal ADSL PPPoE connection on the router. If it syncs your line profile is incorrectly setup as 20/1 Mbps ADSL and not 20/2 Mbps VDSL.

Just to echo this. I recently upgraded to VDSL. My new ASUS DSL-N66u didn't work right out of the box. Had to first put these settings in before it would sync
