I'm 17 years old and I've just bought a used motorcycle. I wanna register it , but some people claim that you need a license to do that, but I've also heard that you don't. Which one is it: is it necessary or not.
Thanks in advance

Blessings..

No, don't think so, just an ID:

Motorists and companies will have to provide the following information to register vehicles, and renew licence discs and driving licences:

Full names, date of birth, identity number, and business registration number, along with any form of acceptable identification.
Proof of postal and residential address, by means of any utility account. As with RICA and FICA, if your name isn’t on the account you need an affidavit from the person in whose name the account is stating you live at that address.
If you live in an informal settlement, you need a letter with an official date stamp from the ward councillor confirming your postal and residential address.

In addition, you must complete and hand in a form NCP (notification of change in particulars).

Nope you don’t need a licence to register a vehicle.

However you might need to be at least 18 or even 21 to be a legal entity to own one.

I don’t know if you have to be 18, but it’s definitely not 21. You’re a legal adult at 18 in South Africa. And agreed you don’t need a driver’s license to register a vehicle.

Yeah I just couldn’t remember which one for damn sure.

Don’t you still need to be 21 to get married?

Nope, 18. Contracts, bank accounts, voting, drinking and marrried. Only sex that you can do earlier. :)

Then I would imagine licensing potentially falls in there as well.

But may be different since a 16yo can carry a 125cc license.
