Hi All

I'm going to install a vehicle tracking system next week - haven't decided who will install it yet but Altech Netstar has an offer on a 3 year contract basis for R70 a month. That is the total cost. There is no installation charge.

Does anyone know of a better offer? Has anyone used Netstar?

Thank you in anticipation

I have a Netstar as well costs me R198 p/m...works ok i guess but irritates me in that i constantly get these calls from them telling me my car is in panic mode and i haven't touched anything

You do realise that the R70/month is just the little hook out there to catch you.

Once they have you by the shorts, that monthly fee comes very close to 3 times that amount...:wtf:

Hi All

Thanks for the feedback.

@Fazda - I also thought there's got to be some catch but according to a phone conversation and email from them, this is what they say:

"
With reference to your quote given by ***** we hereby confirm: R75.00 on a
three year contract with no upfront payment. Annual escalation of 6-10%
with no other costs involved.. Please note that you are bound to a 36
month rental agreement with no upfront costs however should you want to
terminate this agreement prior to 36 months an early termination fee will be
charged.
"

This doesn't sound bad at all, and in fact, sounds to good to be true.

There's the rub... Don't like netstar - there units appear to be faulty by reading yelloPeter... Also cant get mine 'activated' and this is the second unit.

I had Netstar and they could never find my car when I phoned in to test the unit, as they ask you to do on a month by month basis. Each time the car was parked outside my window at work, and the closest they could come was "somewhere near the Durban harbour"...yeah...right...that was about 15 k's away!

Well, tomorrow they must take this **** out and I'd rather put a tracker back. My previous car had a tracker and it tested fine everytime I had it tested.
