I'm in the process of purchasing a car. I need to get a car from Joburg to Cape Town. I've considered fetching it myself but i don't really want to do that. So I checked Shosholoza Meyl, they quoted R2900 excl. insurance. And then there are the various carrier companies, cheapest quote so far is R3400 from Auto Carriers.

Does anyone know of a reliable company that can do this for me at a reasonable price?

why cant you just use a bus from cpt to jhb ( cost might be less than R400), then pick your car ( hope the dealer put some petrol) and drive it back. Two full tank on a 45L tank will cost you less than R1500. Then enjoy the drive of your new ride.

You forgot to add a night's accommodation in Jo'burg, toll fees and the cost of food and drink along the way. And of course there is the wear and tear on the car as well. Not to mention the fact that it'll take between two and three days of your time to complete the trip, which probably means taking a day's leave too.
