Vehicle with no VIN plate

Hi all, my wife bought a used bakkie from a dealer in 2018. When we took possession of the vehicle, it was evident that there was quite a bit of panel eating work done on the car, but it didn't bother us, as we got it for far under its retail value, and cosmetics didn't bother us, as we live on a farm and our terrain is rough so it would have received a few dings and dings anyway. No our problem is, we wanted to sell the bakkie now, as we want to settle it. We had an offer from a dealer, that would have settled the amount with the bank. When the dealer inspected the car later, he pointed out that there is No VIN plate (which should have been on the inside of the rear left door). Where the Vin plate should have been, is painted over, and no marks showing it was removed. No, my wife and I can (under oath if needed) confirm that we had no panelbeting done or any body repairs, nor did we remove the Vin plate. Obviously the dealer declined his offer due to this. Now we sit with a problem, we can't sell the car as is. What must we do? We can't afford the installment and need to sell the car

Hi SHL, I don't have it with me. The car is however still under finance and the Natis with the relevant bank. I just don't know how it got through RWC without the Vin plate. I did a RWC after we bought it, as we could not make the registration in time due to the remote area we live in. I had to take it for a RWC, which it passed. The dealer who inspected the car yesterday said that there is no signs that the Vin plate was physically removed- I'm trying to think if it may have come loose during the time we had the car, but there is no signs that it was there. See attached photo. Another photo shows the Vin plate on my other bakkie(same model). The 1st Pic is of the bakkie in question, and the 2nd is my other bakkie, taken of the same area where the Vin plate is situated.

The Vin nr engraved on the chassis does correspond with the details on the license disk

Have you tried WeBuyCars. As far as I know, they will buy almost anything on 4 wheels that can move on its own power

Yes, they will come and view it on Monday. But as I now understand, I might have to get police clearance or something?

I don't even think they will pick it up, but I'm not sure how their inspection process works. The ethical thing to do is to sort it out before selling it, or you can not tell them and they may purchase the car and that becomes the next owners problem

The main Vin plate is usually riveted on the firewall under the bonnet, or somewhere under bonnet, the Vin might be on other places as well like windows and on body panels.

Not quite familiar with chassis VINs but are you sure you are looking at the right number?
