Thinking of booking a flight, has anybody flown with them?

Only seen issues about their first 2 weeks of operations, anybody flown with them recently.

Thanks

:)

they are shyte, friends of mine who have flown have been delayed by upto 5hrs....on each flight.

Yeah, I've heard the same regarding delays... perhaps these are the start-up hiccups they're experiencing. Apparently the planes and service are similar to those of kulula, mango and 1time...

I heard their first 2 weeks have been very bumpy, well apparently their average delay is 16min now, no confirmation though.

Also heard a few bad things.
Hope they improve sooner rather than later.

Rather stick with the others for now.

From what I know their fleet of planes are rented from another company and not owned by themselves unlike other companies like SAA, etc.

The problem is that they have one active plane that flies the JHB - Durban - Cape Town route. So if they are delayed at any of the stops there will be delays further on.

All you have to do is read a few of the comments on HelloPeter and I think you will stay very very very far from Velvet Sky

if u wanna get from point A to point B...then go for it...
if u want the luxury, frills & convenience,,stick 2 the other airlines :)

They have made clear that there has been delays. Typical south africans to moan about a new startup when it doesnt go right off the bat. Ignorance reigns...

IMO, this country needs this airline, more competition, lower rates, more routes... there are big benefits. But because of their low costs, they ended up being fully booked on all flights, this is probably an oversight on their part, but they claim to be correcting it by adding more aircraft to the pool.

Dont be hasty and give out insults and negative opinions, especially if you are not a regular flyer... if you were, you would know that delays in this country are as common as corrupt politicians, across any airline, and If you remember, 1time, Kulula, Mango all had the same issues when they started. So dont run to hellopeter and cry about them because you didnt make your meeting on time because you opted for the much cheaper option. Stupid people will do that and expect to have the best service on the first day of operations, if they dont, the world must apologise. Sigh, you ppl make me sad.

Im remaining positive - they will sort out their teething issues and will hopefully become a airliner worth using. Currently imo there are no decent airlines in this country, SAA is crap beyond belief, unfriendly attendants, uncomfy seats and you sit with a bunch of people who think they are better than any1 else. The food is pretty crap as well. The same can be said for BA. I only fly 1time, and imo its the best of the bunch when flying domestically. Ive built up enough flying time in the last 4 years to see that there are really no good options when it comes to flying. You will be delayed on every airline you chose.

i fly whatever is cheap at the time of booking...maybe next time it'll be velvet we'll see - i dont really mind...this time around BA was cheaper

One thing I have noticed, prices in general have come down.

The best thing for an industry to have is viable competition and I'm sure that once Velvet Sky has sorted all their challenges they will be a great choice.

Genuine question : if they leave 15-20 minutes late, can't they make up for it in the air?

Why does 10 minutes late leaving meaning a delay on the other side?

Are there rules a pilot needs to follow?
