Hi all,

As you might have guessed, its Telkom again.
Its speed is so slow it doesn't even feel like its LTE, its worse that DSL. Im not sure what the problem here is exactly, is it the router or is it because of my location i do not know. I've tried most of the trouble shooting they told me when i called them (like re-inserting the SIM after 10seconds) they do not work.

LTE Contract with Telkom for 150GB @ 10Mbps , 150GB @ 4Mbps, 9 TB @ 2Mbps.
I have a B535-932 Router, connecting 6 Computers through a switch and the main computer is connected directly to the router.

The contract data plan: The ones marked is the data i get every month on my contract.

This the speedtest i did on Google while typing this.

Which contract do you use, maybe i could upgrade and get that one too. I pay R800 a month for this one.

R 525, uncapped. Soft capped at about 4mbps if the family goes wild (doesn't happen very often). Average speed prolly about 30-40mbps. Deal not available anymore, was one of the 1st Telkom LTE packages

I am also on Telkom Uncapped LTE. Usually I get about 40-44Mbps. For the past week, I haven't been able to get more than 2Mbps down or up. Really frustrating, as it makes streaming impossible, and when I work, I have to kick everyone else off of the network.

Would maybe installing those external antennas on my router improve connection?

I have an external antenna. It helps a lot, but I doubt that that is your issue. It is more likely a Telkom issue, same as with me. It happens every second month or so, and lasts anywhere from 3 days to a few weeks.

Easiest way to check would be to drive somewhere with your router, plug it in, and check. I bet it's the tower.

When I as still on LTE. Important to know?

Tower:
Distance to tower. The closer the better.
Line of sight. Trees come to mind.
Your SNR numbers which get from router.
Tower congested. To may people use that tower.
Telkom did install antenna slight improvement.

Then if all fail's try another area with your router. I did use a mobile setup, car and laptop.
In the beginning I used to get close to LTE speeds. Over time it depleted, to 20mbps or so.
Glad I could switch to Fiber.

I've been having the same issue for the last couple of weeks. I called Telkom, and they said I must get a new sim card. I went and got it yesterday. Speeds were up drastically between 50-70 Mbps consistently for a few hours, then suddenly dropped down to sub-2 Mbps speeds. Before this I thought it was the tower but now I have a strong feeling Telkom is throttling even though I haven't even used up 2% of my monthly allocation (I got the 2 TB deal)

This may seem very obvious but it was not to me until I did it: try a factory reset on your router (the tiny little hole next to the 12V input - push in with a small toothpick or similar for about 5 s). I was also experiencing problems for about 3 weeks and was convinced it was the telkom tower but a technician friend suggested this and - voila!

Ahhh do you suggest I remove the sim-card from the router before the reset?

No. Leave power on and sim in. When you press the reset one or other light changes colour ( I'm 77 and did this two months ago and have forgotten already!) then everything comes back to normal in a minute or so. Then try a speed test. I have LTE-A and usually had 30 -110 up and 15 down but at the time was getting 2 down and 0- 0,2 up - I could have walked the data to destination faster!!
