I live in the Centurion area and got iBurst on Friday . And so far I am blown away ! . Fast surfing ..dl speeds ranging between 70kb-150kb from international sites. And I played a online racing game for 8 hours without any problem and with better ping times than adsl connection to the same server . So far ...Thumbs up to iBurst . Now to see how it goes in the week

I thought no wireless product out there gives you better ping times that ADSL

on the contrary, I use Uninet and my daytime/nighttime pings range from 10-20 (Mweb servers) and under 50 to SGS servers.. wireless is good, if done correctly..

noemfie apparantly nobody took the time out to explain how stuff works here at myADSL, we're allowed to talk about ADSL all the time, we are only allowed to talk about other forms of broadband when we are bad mouthing them slash making crap up, we are not allowed to mention we are happy with a 1mbit wirless service or the kids on thier 56k or 192k or whatever is bottom of the barrel these days will say we work for WBS. Hope that helps

Same here

Noemfie, I also get crazy speeds in Centurion - maybe we've got a hyper-active tower?

yes shush, you know they read these forums, and g0d forbid they know something about marketing strategy

Hi noemfie

Glad to hear its working for you. What made you decide to go for iburst instead of adsl? In the other thread it sounded like you were going to get adsl installed.

I am still waiting for Telkom to install lines at our complex ..been 6 months now!!! ..but it is the developers fault as well . So my neighbor got IBurst and we are using internet sharing . So he took the risk and I benefited :) .

Regarding ping times . I did an experiment last night , one of my friend s have adsl 512 and I asked him to retrieve the list of servers and ping times for the online game(www.LiveForSpeed.net) and I did the same , his best ping time was 353 ms ...mine was 311 ms . The server he got 353ms to ... I got 317ms . I know it is not a huge difference but I was pleasantly surprised

troo.. best thing to do is either ignore the post, or report offensive ones - you know those, the ones with lamely disguised sw34rw0rdz using a combination of letters and numbers, which people who think they're clever use all the time..

Centurion seems solid

Hi all .. been away for a while, but glad to see nothing's changed here on myadsl :D

I am also on the Centurion tower, and have had minimal problems.

Raithlin: I am about 8km GPS line from the tower, no LOS

he he, I am glad that it works for some people and for some protocols :-) maybe WBS should let every individual customer know if it is going to work for them or not before they sign on with them :-) They can give every customer a test as follow:

1. Do you use any other protocols besides HTTP and email?
a) no
b) yes

2. Do you tend to complain when things don't work, and let everyone knows that they don't work, or you just keep quiet?
a) I keep quiet
b) I complain

3. Do you need consistently reliable connection, or you need very fast connection which most of the time cannot be used due to our useless shaping software and our incompetent technical staff?
a) I need very fast connection, irrespective of reliability
b) I need reliable connection

4. Are you happy with using proxies and other "fixes" when stuff don't work for you, instead of complaining that they don't work?
a) yes, I will use "fixes"
b) no, I will complain

...

So if you have all (a) answers, iBurst is just for you !!!!!!!

:D :D :D
