Very slowwww again, today!

I'm visiting my folks this weekend annd thought I'll take a look at why their net is so sloowwww. They also have the 1meg option and is connected at 4096.
In Jo'burg we download the Telskum test file at ±410kbs. My parents also have upgraded to the 1Meg option and could only manage speeds of about 40-70kb/sec.
My dad had the Telkom techie out here and said that this is unacceptable and he mst also be able to download the test file at over 400kb/sec. This still is not happening.
I have just gone into the router to check the status and notcied that we are back at 1024.

Is there someone else in the region having the same problems with speed? (I have to say that the Telkom techie replaced a corroded connector block on a pole and this got our internet back, but not any improvement on speed.)

Hi. I've found this morning that turning the proxy server off increases speeds dramatically to .za sites, however I then can't access other sites (.uk, .com, etc). So it seems it's performance vs access today.... It may not be related to your problem but remove the proxy and see if your download issue is solved....

Telkom techie just fixed one corroded connection; line is crystal clear now. BUT, I'm still connected at 1024kb/sec and not the 4096 as it should be. Telskum is our ISP.
Where do I switch of the proxy server?

Its sunday, and IS is crawling worse than dialup, local and international timing out!... Getting really sick of this!

Quite honestly, if there was a better option to IS uncapped i would!. But it would appear that ADSL both Saix and IS are both slowing down, and i don't think enough people are complaining about this! I'm actually thinking of just letting the Internet go, its just not worth this dreadful lag and timeouts etc etc etc all the time!

I realize this isnt Openweb's fault, but, i signed onto this Uncapped account because its supposed to be Unshaped, uncapped. Fine, when the story broke that it is shaped during the day i was okay with it as long as i get atleast half the bandwidth i get after hours, but i'm getting not even that, i'm getting slower than dialup during the day, most websites are impossible to access, and at night its sometimes better but mostly not. Like today, its a joke!.
