Hi there

How do you get VGA input on a laptop? Can it be done with a KVM switch?

I want to connect a tv box to my laptop.

Thanks

AirWolf

Edit: I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop.

No, KVM switch will not do that. the VGA port on your laptop is an output, not input. Best bet is maybe a USB TV box.

When I plugged the tv box into the VGA output on my laptop, it changed the display resolution, and when you remove it the resolution returns to normal.

Any particular reason for this happening on a VGA output port?

Yes. Windows does that when it detects you are using the other port, however if you are going to try and get input into an output port you will be sitting doing it forever.

i think its the biggest bane of mine with laptops. why dont they just make a vga input?

I wanted to do something similiar with my xbox 360 and beautiful awesome laptop.

From the research I've been doing some laptops have an input / output switch for the VGA port.

Mine doesn't unfortunately:(.
