Is such a thing possible? If so, where can it be found?

There was a thread about this not too long ago. Issue here is that VGA only carries video so the converter/cable would have to have an input for at least 1 VGA and 2 rca so I imagine this is a pretty tricky thing to do, as well as there probably not being much of a market for it, considering that most displays with HDMI inputs already have VGA and DVI inputs.

The audio issue is only a problem if you're planning to plug all outputs into a receiver. You could plug the vga to hdmi input into a display and the audio to an amp and you'll be fine. But that's such a rigmarole. Why do you need it? Do you not have a DVI output instead as I know DVI to HDMI cables are fairly common...

You could try you local ZAK speed electronics store, but AFAIK there is no such thing.
You do get a SCART converter, Component RBY to SCART input/Output
But that would be from music/home centre to TV
Whenever possible rather go for component in/out than VGA, better quality.
VGA breaks signal into 2 Audio 1 video, component breaks video into Red, Blue Yellow, seperate audio cable breaks into standard 2 Audio.

Would one be able to get a RCA to HDMI converter? and if so where?

The point would be that i need to clean up my wiring. I don't have the HDPVR decoder. so now I have the HDMI cable for the DVD running to my wall mounted tv as well as the RCA cables. This is all coming from my AV receiver. If I could get a RCA to HDMI cable then I could Connect the DSTV decoder to the AV processor and only have the HDMI cable running to the tv.

Hi Milomak,

My company does stock two types of these converters VGA & RCA Analog / Stereo Audio to HDMI and DVI / SPDIF Optical Toslink or Coaxial to HDMI. Both converters will combine the Video (Either VGA or DVI) and Audio (Either RCA Analog or Digital Toslink / Coaxial) to HDMI (including both audio and video and the DVI/Optical to HDMI converter also has a passthrough for the audio to connect it to an amplifier or receiver if needed. When the audio/video has been combined into one HDMI signal it can be switched, distributed/split to multiple displays and the signal can be amplified/equalized to reach longer distances. Not sure what the rules of this forum are regarding posting of external website links so please pm me. We have stock on the DVI/Digital Audio to HDMI converters and are expecting stock on the VGA/Analog RCA to HDMI again in about 3-4 weeks.

regards
Johan

i'll be getting my HTPC with HDMI motherboard fairly soon so don't need this anymore. In the meantime I am using the VGA input on the TV.

Thanks though Johan.
