Vibecoding: a beginner's guide

I got your point, you're expecting far too much for an IDE. So i pointed you to a tool that is designed for the purpose.
I don’t think expecting an AI to know what it can deliver and to actually deliver what it claims to deliver is “far too much”. I mean that’s what vibecoding IS, which is the topic of this thread yes?

Asking it to generate images is not coding, that's art generation. I think you are infact expecting to much. The model will make claims because it forms part of its training.

gpt 5.3

Code:
› generate a dog catch a frisbee called dog.png

• The system currently lacks an image generation tool and only supports viewing images, so it cannot create new images.

• I can’t generate images in this environment. If you want, tell me how you’d like to create it (e.g., local tool or external service), and I can help
  with the exact command or prompt.

Maybe its a user problem?

Only idiots let Ai bots run rampant on these types of things.

So @Foxhound5366 let’s see what you vibe coded?
After wasting a few hours of my life as described here, I decided to instead sign up for a 70-hour online course which will teach me some new skills. I figure that by the time I’m done with the course, the vibecoding tools will be better AND I will know more to check them and brief them … so it’s a win-win.

but kids of today runs anything and everything at max rights in the background :D

OpenClaw :love::love:

Had a good laugh at claude opus 4.6 today and serious old legacy tsql (obviously shortened for example)

select * from A
Inner join B on A.Id = B.SomeId
and A.SomeValue1 = 'filterA'
and A.SomeValue2 = 'filterB'

Claude said the syntax is ****ed and should rather be*

select * from A
Inner join B on A.Id = B.SomeId
where
A.SomeValue1 = 'filterA'
and A.SomeValue2 = 'filterB'

Me thinking... well maybe the filtering was intentional on the join?

Claude then said umh yeah you right, one can do intentional filtering on the join.

me *rolleyes*

*sure it can be formatted prettier but legacy works, was optimized, was benchmarked so why **** with it.

Pitty was curious to see what you had built.

Fear not, earlier in this thread I’d shared my first and only vibecoded website, a deliberately garish lotto generator (that I’ve used for a few lotto draws for myself since lol): https://sites.google.com/view/foxhound5366slottogenerator/home

For now, however, I’m going to enjoy learning some new coding techniques and then when I come back to vibecoding later it’ll be more fun.
I've tasked AI to work with me on a project, so far it's going well, I do have to clean up its mess at times. I've been working on and off on this for about a year (I get bored easily).
