Has anyone here had experience making a video call on the 3G network, maybe in the UK or something.

Is the picture very jerky etc?

As long as you have a Motorola E1000 (actually two), you can make video calls locally on the 3G network. The quality is very good and I personally use it quite often.

Because the bearer is Circuit Switched, with dedicated bandwidth for the call, it's not jerky at all. If it was packet switched over the data network, it would be very difficult to guarantee quality.
