Guys

I am looking for a nice video converter to convert my exicting .avi, mpeg and what ever files to PS3 format. I know you can do it with Quicktime pro. I have looked at Handbrake (Mediafork) and Mactheripper but all they do is rip DVD's into the right format.

I need something that can take downloaded series (Heroes, Prison Break) .avi files and convert it to MPEG4 or Advance MPEG4 (AVC, AAC)

Cheers

Last time I used popcorn it was for creating dvd's - have they added features?

There is an EXPORT button ... also in Roxio Toast.
Ah - its not there on my older version of popcorn - that's why I asked. :) Dont think I'll upgrade just yet though.

Ok I went out and got the Quicktime pro.... 20 Pound... so now I am going to give it a bash. I hope it works

ffmpegx is a nice frontend for the opensource tools.

I know - thats why I recommended it too :)

And the price is unbeatable :D D-Vision is a close second for many day to day things.

Ok I am testing Quicktime pro to convert my .avi files to mp4. If you put the video to Sd its really bed quality. So now I am doing my 600MB file again. It seams to take forever.

Keep you posted

what settings are you using?

I kicked off another export this morning as I found my bit rate was only 256. That is why the picture was so grainy.

I will post again after I check it tonight. I also see that you can export it to HD and so forth. Very nice what the pro bit can do

:) that might do it - I try to match it close to the original - no point trying to go higher and you've seen what going too low will do.

Ok it worked great... I set the bit rate up to 1400 and it created a +-800MB file. The video quality is great.

Thanks
