I would just use AI for the acting as well. Win win for everyone.

I suspect that is what they striking against. :)

Edit: I was right.
The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists called a walkout this week on behalf of roughly 2,600 actors doing voice-over, motion-capture and other work in the gaming industry.

Union leaders took the step after they could not reach an agreement on artificial intelligence terms while bargaining for a new contract with the top video game companies, including Activision, Electronic Arts, Insomniac and Blindlight.

Oh great

First Starfield levels of bad writing and now you want Wand of Gamelon levels of voice acting for all future games as well

Can you imagine the levels of crap in that combination?
Just pay the people a decent wage and guarantee their jobs already

Asked AI image generation to generate a doom level and it gave me:

Not to be funny but I would play that :D
And yes I know it looks nothing like doom:

They want ridiculous wages, not decent wages. Same goes for developers. Sooner or later it's going to crash.

I would not use AI just like that. But I would use it in combination with reasonably waged actors or developers. The AI doing most of the brain work of course.

Yearly profit (Disclosed)

EA - 1.6 Billion
Ubi - 700 Million
Rockstar - 2 Billion
Bethesda (Studio excluding publishing house) 180 Million
Blizzard 2.2 Billion (A quarter year!)

Nothing is crashing
Pay the damn people

Funny thing now some English Genshin Impact voice actors are joining the 'whitewashing' petition. An upcoming region based on South America and Africa has whitish looking anime girls, oh the shock, given the Chinese nature of the game with the top earner market being Japan where pale skin is considered attractive.
