Can anyone advise me please?

I bought my brother in law the ion video to pc USB video conversion system for Christmas as he has hundreds of video and the video machines in our house are rapidly breaking down and I thought it m,ight be a great way for him to preserve them on DVD to continue to be able to watch them.

He has loaded the programme , is currently testying it out and we have hit a snag.. he has tried two of his videos and a window pops up which bascally says "this video is copyright protected and may not be copied"

Firstly is this just a warning and may he continue

Secondly is the software not able to copy such copyrighted videos??? ....... If this is the case, is there a way around this? This software cost me R800 and I would hate it to be for nothing

Wold be grateful for any advise.

Is there any way anyone can link the ion video to pc software with TBC (time based correction) software to overcome this problem?

I think you could use something like Red Pro if it was from a normal VHS to a capture card or DVD recorder (that's what I used for all my VHS-DVD conversions) - it connects inline and strips the protection so the signal can pass to the PC or set-top DVD recorder.

I'm not sure it would work with the ion integrated unit though...
