This is a strange TV because unlike my plasma which can be viewed from any angle or height without adjustment, this samsung 22 inch series 4 LCD has a standard stand which doesn't adjust. If you are viewing it by looking down on it (from any height) on the screen or at direct eye level it's fine but the moment you are in a position looking up (eg seated on a low couch and the tv is plonked on a higher sideboard directly in front) the screen is considerably darker and adjusting contrast doesn't help all that much. I couldn't figure out why the kids don't like watching cartoons on it until I realised they sit even lower on the couch than me and probably can't see a thing. What a nuisance, more so because I don't fancy drilling it into a wall with a swivel bracket - but surely this LCD doesn't need a swivel bracket or does it?
