Vintage Computers

Woohoo!!! Is it plugged in yet or still sitting on your desk?

Plugged in and Delta Force Black Hawk Down is much better.

The Win98 built is now max spec I can go.

Thinking of installing Win 95 too.

So a 3 tier OS built.
So glad to hear it! It's worth the effort to get a decent GPU to maximize the experience and take full advantage of the era. I haven't played Black Hawk Down in ages... It's actually one of the first few games I played LAN at home, I ended up using my parents PC's to add another 2 players (only had dial-up at the time so couldn't join any internet games).

Makes me think, I feel like we could organise a retro "WAN" and play a couple of these games over the internet for those interested... The main issue is how to get a VPN accessible to the retro machines without the need for software. My initial thought is using hardware like a mikrotik (which is what I do currently as a wifi to LAN bridge) or similar that supports various VPNs or a VM of sorts that provides routed VPN access.

Back in the day we used to use kali.net. No idea if it's still available.

I've never heard of kali, looks like it's still available - busy testing to see if the services are still operational in my 86box emulated machine.

**Edit: Appears to still be working which is cool, very miRC like which was a complete trip down memory lane... Tried chatting with the the only 3 users seemingly still logged in but no response. Prob timezone related as they are all US based :D Little fiddly requiring NAT rules to forward TCP/UDP port 2213 to retro machine. Still fails the firewall test on start-up but I can see traffic is hitting the rules I put in.

I am repairing and old 8 track tape deck, it works great now - but the belt is worn out and will snap any moment.

Where would I find a suitable replacement?

Would an O-ring not work? This place has O-ring cord which enable you to make it to your own length, or they may just have one that will fit your application.

Sooo, the collection never ends. Just had to get a second copy of Windows 98 SE.
The one I bought from @Stuey74 was in such a good condition, that I do not want to use it and scratch it.

So I got myself:

So today I learned that Windows 98 sometimes also had no sticker?

I got one that has a COA sticker, just weird to see this version looking like Windows 95.
