Vintage Computers

Hello, I have an HP-85 Model B I'm wanting to get rid of. It's in working condition, the only thing wrong with it is the printer doesn't work any more, although I suspect this can be fixed with a little know-how.

Hi,

I'll definitely take it from you. Will send you a PM.

Got a faulty HP85, so hopefully can transplant the printer from that one. :)

Tx!!

I've been collecting vintage computers for quite a while.

Currently I have:

* Commodore 64 in box (every collector has one of these :p )
* Sinclair ZX Spectrum also still in original box.
* EG2000 Colour Genie.
* Sharp PC-1211 in original box, plus have the carry case and printer attachment.
* Sharp PC-4500 with 20Mb HDD.
* Epson HX-20 in original plastic carry case, also have the mini cassette drive.
* Amstrad PPC 512 with the carry bag

I also have a more or less complete 8088 desktop system.
And I have a few 486 laptops and an IBM Thinkpad 760XD, guess these aren't really all that vintage yet, but they will be one day and I like laptops anyway. :p

Oh and a few Psion Revo's and a Series 3 and a Siena, like the 486's not really vintage yet but cool anyway. :)

Cool,

Have you joined the SA Vintage Computer Group?

Anyone have an old PS/1?

Those were awesome to support back in the day.

Yup, got one :)

Nice! They're like hens teeth these days - unless you know of a big business that hasn't chucked their old ones out. Nestle, East London had a few back in the day - I doubt they still have them. Those keyboards are the best.

I have one of these too.. forgot about it. I just have the box though, missing the monitor and keyboard/mouse, I picked it up like that at a local Fete. Bit of a bummer cos the monitor supplies the power. I have tested mine though by powering it "manually" (poking wires in the appropriate sockets).

Thanks for the reminder:o Yep, you have to start somewhere.

Where did most of today's whizzkid programmers start?

From a post that I posted nearly 10 years ago: "1969 - Muldivo IME86s 512 bytes of programing space punched out 1 hole at a time in binery"

What about consoles? A mate of mine's collection. Going to do a longer post about it one of these days - soon hopefully.

^^Accoustic coupler.... haven't seen one of those in a while

OMW never seen that C-Pet, that is really very nice and takes me back to C64 days!

Bit of a derailment, sorry.

So. Did not get to start teaching the kids BASIC due to us not havening electricity and all that, but we'll be connected to the Eishkon grid soon.

What do you guys suggest - which emulators will allow you to LOAD and SAVE BASIC games?

Emulated PC does not matter, just that you can LOAD and SAVE games at will.

Got a laptop that the kids can use, plan to install the emulator on it, and give it to the kids to teach themselves.

Back to the topic, thanks.
