I couple of months ago I got into this vinyl thing. It's a decent pastime trying to source some of my favourite albums, and even obscure ones over the last months.

So, at the moment I'm looking into buying a player.

Any pointers or recommendations?

I'm looking for something in the R1.5-R2k range that I can easily integrate into my existing home theater system. Reason for asking is that I read that these Crossley players for sale at Musica etc are trash, and over time deteriorate the vinyls. So, considering what some of these albums cost, a definite no go. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

The player is not as important as the needle itself.

In saying that a R2000 deck won't give you an enjoyable experience.

I would strongly advise upping the budget a little and buying an sl1200.

It won't lose its value and is highly liquid in the event you one day wish to sell.

Try to get a spherical stylus as the eliptical ones do give a better richer sound but at the cost of accelerated wear.

I've been using an old Stanton 500s stylus for the past five years on my primary deck. I'm surprised it has lasted this long because I bought it for R150 second hand
