LIMPOPO – An employee of Northam Platinum Mine, the deceased was a member of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).
According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, the man shot in the head by an unknown man, who then fled on foot.
“As far as we know, the murder sparked clashes between NUM members and members of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu), who are clashing on the Northam/Thabazimbi road near the Railway Gate. One person, reportedly an Amcu member, died after he was stabbed with an assegai,” said Otto.
