Violent IBurst bashing ended

As the forum knows, iBurst is a winner for me. I've had only two speed related problems this month and they were resolved. I've had constant, uninterrupted service and decent speeds for the entire month, and p2p has worked better than I hoped. I am happy. Their equipment can do with some tweaks, especially their DNS servers and they must get a consultant in to help them with the bandwidth monitor but it is OK otherwise and allows me to boycott Telkom

I am willing to help anyone who has problems with iBurst. I am also busy looking into finding out how to access the UTD API so that software might be written to aid those who really have a lot of problems, and to allow them to troubleshoot the connection. Of course, if people struggle still I will be prepared to meet up with them and help sort it out.

If you're willing to help anyone - then how about working out what sort of simple uncuttable cable can be brought into SABC radio block, taken upstairs, and then wrapped and tied around the outside of WBS office doorhandles on the 21st floor,, so that they cant get out - and have to call the building security to come and let them out?

I'd suggest this would be a great thing to do at around 4pm :)

its faster than adsl and cheaper too, I can surf international after being capped and dont need to buy another account if I want to be uncapped again and its not run by Telkom, thats all the reasons I need.

Plus when residential 1mbit ADSL comes (if it comes) iBurst will probably be on 3mbit, so for me theres none better

I will help anyone who asks. Locking people in their offices is sure to cause more resentment and anger and they will certainly take that out on you by capping/throttling you for a whole month even though you have 3 gig left.

When it comes to dealing with WBS, I don't really have a fast answer. Many people from this forum have gone to their offices to try and speak to them, and many have even phoned the upper management many times on their cellphones. What has happened as a result? Nothing.

All I can help you with is to eliminate technical issues with your UTD and your computer's setup and prove beyond all doubt that it is all optimal. Beyond the UTD, and on the side of the basestation, it is up to WBS.

Is it not too soon to be talking about the entire month when you had only experienced 8 hours and 21 minutes of the new month...:p

I assume you meant to say the month of May...?

I was referring to the month of May. I haven't tried it today at all. I don't see why there will be a problem and why I need to be pessimistic.

I am not responding to this. I am now angry!

Guys today i have experienced slooooow speeds. Slower than when i was capped so i think something is up at iburst today. Any comments?

craigsa: im in the same boat as you. *** speeds. And as normal. WBS Mobile will keep quiet about why their networks broken, and if they tell us something, chances are it will be a lie.

Right now im thinking of increasing antitrust`s focus.

Not to mention the fact that according to their network notices NOTHING has happened on the network since 13 May ....

While that would be nice it scares me even more since we all know that if users with GOOD connections close to towers get the 3mbs option the rest of us will be DEAD in the water ....

actualy I just checked the kyocera website and I have to go back on that, while the modems can supports higher data speeds the towers can't :( it looks like 1mbit is the max for now
