I moved to the uk 6 months ago and i said i wouldn't come onto this forum and talk about connections in comparison to SA until i got back to SA. Cause thats called trolling

But FFS 6 months ago the only way i could connect to the internet at home was through my cell phone...As of 1 nov i will have my virgin media cable connection setup with a 50mb net connection for £20 a month!!!!

You're the only people i could tell, who could truly appreciate that.

so flame away and launch the troll insults....i deserve it.

p.s. yes i know its not the fastest net connection in the world, etc.......but its still frickin cool for a saffa from benoni

Yes we know... don't remind us please let us live in blissful ignorance I beg you.

May a thousand fleas infest your internet connection and may Telkom be your service provider in the next life.

*green with envy*

WTF does being a "saffa from benoni" have to do with having a cool internet line, I dont see the connection, its only because your in the UK, nothing to with anything else.

jealousy makes you nasty!:p Good for you simon enjoy every mb of it. Why would it be trolling to tell us about your internet connection btw?

Because saffas in benoni don't have 50mb lines.

I also think you're just jealous.

Virgin is not that great imo, it is capped and it is a pathetic cap too. After 2Gb or so into peak time '18h00-00-00' or something they throttle you back hecticly (75% of down stream, 75% of upstream). That is if you can get good speeds in peak time because it is so cogested. I am on VM 10Mb and I am happy but it is by no means the best you can have. I have battled to stream a 500kb video stream at times!

But it is value for money, I have the large TV package and internet and pay £32pm.

BTW: When did you get 50Mb, I did not think they had rolled that out yet?

I agree, I had the 20mb version and it went at about 3mb/s. I'm not sure if their cableing system is very stable where I live though(North West), I have now upgraded to a private line which is equal to 40mb/s (somtimes) :p but this is much more expensive. :(

They're rolling it out on 1 november. I guess i'll have to find out about their quality of service, but as in life...you get what you pay for, normally if you take the most expensive option, you get the best service....i know its not guaranteed....but its the potential that i'm looking at. Plus BT are a bunch of knob heads.....there was no BT line at the house i'm moving too so i asked them what would it cost to install, they said £113, i asked them how much would it cost to cancel my contract, they said £102.....i wonder which option i took?

BT are rubbish and this 'Up to 8Mb' is utter trash. Most of the time you lucky if you get 1.5-2Mb. Virgin flies in the morning when all the torrent kiddies are at school, I get massive speeds. Evenings just tend to suck a bit, sometimes gaming is not even possible. What area you in?
