I want to join VA but I am not sure whether they still want to force me into a 12 month membership or if it's a month to month membership.

Please let me know. Thanks
 
I think they only do month to month now since they do sneaky price adjustments every so often.
 
Also check if your Medical Aid has any offers for VA. They are all month to month as far as I know.
 
They do month to month but then it is something like R550, normally it is something like R450 unless you have vitality. Note not 100% sure on prices.

IMO I prefer smaller private gyms

Me too. Having been a victim of Planet Fitness and their never ending monthly subscription scam :mad: along with ridiculous letter of demand, the major gym chains will never see a cent of my money again

even with the CPA, be very very careful about what you sign

The gym I go to now IMO has excellent facilities and my years membership is like 4 months of VA :p and no joining fee's or rubbish, no waiting for a treadmill or a machine and friendly people.
 
I pay R65 per month on vitality through discovery. Had to sign for 12 months though

What does vitality cost you though?

And any limits at the gym? I.e times etc?
 
With Vitality, Discovery pays 80% of the subscription plan of your choice and you pay 20%. Mine costs me just under R90pm. There is a once off fee of R735, but as long as you guy more than 24 times per 12 month rolling window they are happy. Vitality costs about R130pm, but I already had it for all of the other benefits.
 
I switched to a private gym last year and I've never looked back. Transparent pricing, great facilities, very friendly atmosphere, and I can change/shower/steam without getting propositioned.

How?! I pay R300 per month for VA, even though it is a student subscription, when I singed up the student one was only like 40 bucks cheaper.
 
I went to planet fitness... Just asked at reception for pricing. Before they give you anything they want you to sign, this and that then only does a consultant take you to the office to discuss. They trying to hide something ???
 
I usually take the 2 year contract, pay upfront and use my virgin money card for the extra 10% discount. Works for me.
 
Went to gym for the first time this morning. Feel like :cry:

:p

Was fun though. So now, I need to join Vitality and sign that 2 year contract.
