Has anyone tried activating the Blackberry service on Virgin via *147#?

I can get into the CellC menu and follow the steps to activate but don't want click on confirm as I fear I might waste R57 for the activation only to find out it doesn't work.

I'll actually try it this week. Have to scavenge for a BlackBerry though, think a friend of mine has one of those old models being the 8320/8210.

Did anybody manage to get this option working? I have a Blackberry 8310 on a virgin R99 prepaid voucher but if I do the *147# thing nothing happens

Last I heard Virgin does not support any Blackberry data service. After activating sim card u can use a virgin sim card on a Blackberry device.

If you want to use it for data services aswell u'll need to download 3rd party browser e.g. Opera mini. Then edit ur APN settings to 'vdata' (for virgindata) then u'l be able to browse the internet with ur BB through the opera mini app only. The device browse will not be able to browse though.

I just tried. Said I will receive an SMS once it's activated. It did not take any money though... Will keep you posted.

Wandered into a Virgin Mobile store yesterday. While I was there the Blackberry representative came into the store to give the staff Blackberry training. Apparently Blackberry support is imminent. Either December or January latest. I scoffed because I had heard it before but there has to be a reason why the Blackberry man was there to give the staff Blackberry training
