Hi guys...

When I connect to the Internet via GPRS, using MTN, CellC or Vodacom, I do that bluetooth connection thing with *99# to dial... it works, but with Virgin it doesnt connect.

Anyone know if that number is the same or does Virgin use another one?

Help would be appreciated!

Thx :D

Im in PTA Gauteng but Ive tried to use it in other parts of the country aswell... It just says "disconnected"...

At string

There is an at string that can be inserted into the modem properties if you are using a cell phone as a modem to connect a laptop to Virgin. it is at+cgdcont=1,"ip","vdata","",0,0

Can't we sticky that string somewhere - It worked for me as well but it keeps getting lost in all the posts.

*99# has worked for me with Mtn and VC but with cellc it starts to register the computer on the network, but always ends up with an error.
Is there an at string for cellc i could use?

I dont always understand these settings, cos my VC, cellc & MTN works perfectly the same way... just Virgin that doesnt work..

(well I havent tried the string you gave in this post yet, I will try it now)..

Thanks for the posts guys.. :D

Thing is, Vodacom, MTN and CellC all allow you to use the "internet" apn. Some of the networks have other apn's too, but they all have the 'internet' one. So when you change the sim in your phone to one from another network it should work, since the apn stays the same.

Virgin only uses the 'vdata' apn, so you need to change the settings every time you switch networks. I don't understand why Virgin don't just add an apn called 'internet'. This would make life a lot easier for new customers, customers that switch sims regularly and obviously their own call centres too.

Great idea. It will also solve all their problems with Opera Mini and Mxit.

I also had the same problem for the last two days. Previously it worked fine. Yea, I'm using the vdata as apn.

had the same issue

your APN has to be vdata, if not it will hang on "registering computer on network"
also the number to dial is *99***1#
jam

I think the reason Cell C and Virgin have different code points is because data goes via the same network. (Since Virgin runs off Cell C)
Because they have different billing structures they probably have to differentiate.

I can't connect either just using my handset like I always used to be able to
