When will we get prices like this in South Africa, was browsing on the net and came across the Virgin Media Website,

They offer a large package to their clients for 25.00pounds a month Normal price (and the special price for a year is 11.50pounds a month)

The package consists of :

Includes:

A modem
Internet Security.

Benefits:

Faster
Up to 4Mb
No download limits†
(unlike some of our competitors)
Download a music track◊ in under 10 seconds

Fun
Space to create your own website (55Mb, in fact!)

If you take the standard price of 25 pounds its around R380 per month, who would like a connection like this.

I was just about to settle on them as the ISP I selected for a relative living over there, but then I read a few nasty reviews regarding their speed. They recently acquired another ISP and now their network is not handling the additional load very well.

Ultimately decided on Sky's Triple-play service for 26 pounds/month:

I concur with Borg's comments. Having recently returned from the UK after using Virgin (formerley BlueYonder) for around 5 years, what is offered and what you get are not the same. The operative word is 'Up to 4MB'. I rarely managed to get anywhere near that speed. Average speed in the evenings around 20-40K and early morning 500K. On a number of occasions shortly before leaving, the service 'disappeared' all together - i.e no access at all.

Probably NEVER happen in SA. The business ethic and consumer apathy will prevent this.

Maybe one day we will be just lucky, lets see myabe MR Virgin decides to bring it to SA we will never know, he might just one morning wake up and say lets do it, just like with virgin money that has been launched in the US recently.
