I know this is the EDGE forum but since other Virgin users are likely to browse it I thought this would be the best place to ask:

Were on earth am I supposed to buy virgin airtime, I usually get airtime from Engen Garages but the one closest to me say they don't sell it?

This is the first time I actually want to spend money on airtime but can't seem to get some  I must have very bad luck (IE the places I ask for airtime just don't happen to have!).

Virgin Airtime is available at these places:

Woolworths
Clicks
Musica
Engine Garages (filling stations as some people call it)

or you can alternatively register you Credit Card details with Virgin Mobile and recharge straight from you phone using the SIM menu. I think it's also available at Standard Bank ATMs. Good luck.

You can also buy directly from your Internet Banking interface if you are a FNB customer - not sure of the other banks though

Not all Musica - but they are the cheapest for starter packs - you can also buy airtime from CNA and Checkers - you covld always ask someone to buy one for you and give you the PIN over the phone

Yes, i do think having '..virgin edge' in the forum header does confuse some people. It should say 'cellc and virgin mobile'.

Virgin Mobile airtime now also available via Standard Bank Internet banking website. No need to visit the ATM anymore.

I finally found some at CNA, thanks for everyone's suggestions. My issue is really with Engen, most all of them say they don't sell Virgin mobile airtime! (well I've had 1 hit in 5) I don't understand either Virgin mobile should drop Engen or ask them to fully endorse the selling of airtime (aren't they a franchise?).

Regardless I've found a CNA that's quite close, so they'll be me new airtime supplier.

My VM airtime supplier is Checkers, as they sell R50 for +-R46.99. And they are close.

Engen over here doesn't even know what Virgin Mobile is. They have never heard of it.

Hi Gnome,

Are you trying Engen QuickShop?
These are the resellers who should be particpating, if it was a QuickShop, please let me know which ones you have tried so I can get hold of their HQ.

Any method of buying that involves talking to people is a disaster. (Loved the story about the dude that got pointed to the condoms when he asked for Virgin airtime). Usually one just gets a vacant stare or:

Sample attempt 2 buy airtime:
Me: Can I please have some virgin mobile airtime.
Shop: Airtime?
Me: Yes. Virgin mobile airtime.
Shop: Vodacom or MTN?
Me: No. Virgin mobile.
Shop: Airtime?
Me: Yes, virgin mobile airtime. Prepaid.
Shop: Telkom airtime?
*Me walks away*

Me votes bank.

@adsl3g: Cool about the online airtime.
