British entrepreneur Richard Branson's Virgin group may launch a South Africa-based low-cost airline and hopes to open Virgin Megastores in Africa's biggest economy, the head of Virgin Mobile South Africa said on Tuesday.

Sounds promising.

Either Mr. Branson sees how badly South Africans are being exploited in every industry and he's trying to help, or he sees potential to further exploit us. Time will tell, hopefully it's the former
 
Nice find HGP, I don't think he wants to exploit us, but he is a billionaire after all, I think he's just brilliant. His brilliance has showed him that being a bit cheaper in the big league can go a long way. He rocks IMHO :)
 
He's certainly intelligent, but with the Virgin Active gyms the rates far exceed the old Health and Racquet rates (I understand that's why they went under liquidation in the first place, but the rates didn't have to be this much higher) and in the mobile arena Virgin seems to have stirred things up for the better.

So as it stands there's a 50/50 split, let's hope the airline and megastore follows the same route as their mobile operation.

Hopefully they wont employ totally incompetent, useless, ****ing crap, awful, pathetic, lame, ****head, ****wit, knobend, cocksucking, douchbag, lazy, lying, staff and courier service like they have with their money division...

FOUR TIMES i've been told my card is going to be delivered and the ****s havent shown... another shining example of South African business doing what it does best.. NOTHING (if you don't know i'm talking about the courier service Virgin uses to deliver their cards..)

The Virgin brand IMHO is pretty good, but as soon as you let South Africans work there... :(

I agree with schitz011's sentiments, not so much about Virgin itself, but more this so called courier company. Millenium something I think they're called.

Bunch of useless halfwits.

Edit: Sorry, on topic, I think it will be a good thing to get as much of Virgin here as possible. More competition for the entrenched Musica's/SAA's/Kulula's/1time's the better.
 
Virgin Blue operates over here in Oz, and I've flown with them a few times. Generally very good, not much different to Kulula in service levels or perks (you buy your onboard food etc).
On price Virgin Blue is almost always the cheapest...so good value for money.
 
Looking forward to the Virgin Megastore. Hopefully they can give us better dvd prices than our local ripoffs.
 
don't think there is space for another domestic airline... the market is pretty small in south africa...

Usually I just shrug my shoulders and say 'flobber lob o lob' but this time I'm just getting sick and tired of empty promises. If you can't deliver it then fine, but dont tell me FOUR times you will and then don't.

This is applicable to all sectors of business..
