Virgin Sim with Hauwei Data Card

Hi there guys

Last night was the first time in about a month that I tried to use my Virgin Sim card in my Data Card. It only connected for a few seconds then it disconnected again.

Have anyone sorted out this problem yet?

I tried the same last night, was up for almost a minute then disconnected. No data got through.
 
There were some network problems last night - they seem to be resolved now. Hopefully it will work again now.
 
I have the same problem using my phone as a modem from day one since getting my sim last week. the moment i dialup i can view a web page however after a min or so i cant view no pages at all. modem status shows that data is been transferred and my phone indicates GPRS is active.The strange thing is that I can access the net on the phones default browser and I get charged however when i use opera I dont. Can someone please help me get vmobile gprs working on my PC.
 
Is there still no way of usin virgin i the Hauwei E620 HSDPA data card?
 
The VM 128k SIM will work in the Huawei E620 card but requires the APN to be vdata and may need a special modem setup string, as documented elsewhere on the forum. The older 64k VM sim won't work.
 
is there a way i cud get a 128k sim without losing my number? cus i dnt wana buy a new starter pack...as they cum with 128k sim cards
 
Have a look at the sticky thread for the Virgin contact names and emails - they will organise a 128k replacement, and you will keep your number. Took about 3 days with me.

I have this exact same problem. Using OperaMini on my Motorola V220 browsing works fine. But when connected to the PC it works for about a minute or two, then suddenly browsing stops. Pinging a host like www.google.com works fine, so the connection is up. Almost like there's a problem with port 80 only. SSH connections also timeout after a couple of minutes. What could cause this?

Is there any way to force my Virgin 128k sim to manually connect to the vodacom network instead of cell c. The sim is in a huawei fastlink e620 data card.

Ps. I think at certain times I am connecting with edge onto the virgin mobile as recently the surfing speeds that I am getting have been very fast although I am still having disconnects.

Go to the control panel, choose the Settings button at the bottom (2nd from right on MTN software), then the Network tab at the top. On the right hand panel is "Choose Network and Register" panel. Choose "Manual choose Network", click Search. When Vodacom is found, then register.

Then reconnect...

It works for me!
