i've seen somewhere that the HD-DVD drive for the XBOX360 costs R2000, so doesn't that make the XBOX360 (premium) fall into the ps3 price range of +-R6000?

Ooo oo, I know the answer to that one, me me me me . . .!!!! 
I reckon the Wii is going to win outright in sheer numbers, I have little doubt of that. Where I think the other two differ is that Microsoft acknowledges that and places the 360 next to the Wii as a complementary product - traditional 'hardcore' games, online movies and IPTV, whereas the PS3 is still try to beat them both by swinging wildly in the air. By the time the Sony execs stop to catch their breath the other two will probably have moved on.

Yeah true... but I don't want a HD-DVD so the 360 is much cheaper.
The major difference in my opinion is that the 360 has everything as an added extra if you want it whilst the PS3 has everything built in....
If Blu-Ray wins (which it looks like it will) then maybe Sony made the right choice but then again M$ could just release a Blu-Ray addon for the 360 so we don't lose either...
