Hi

1. Do you guys know of software that I can use to capture an image of machine?
2. Once the image has been captured, can I then use another software to mount the virtual image and run it?

Thanks,
Mil

What O/S are you running?

I use VMWare for this, running Win7 64-bit - works well for me...

Try Acronis True Image

Works really well. Drives can be imaged completely or only certain files / data backup performed.

Image files can be accessed within windows like a normal drive with directory structure - Only read only I think, but not sure.

Also supports backup over network or into Acronis Secure Zone (hidden partition on local drive). Also can performed Acronis Boot Manager - can boot into Acronis even if Windows installation corrupted - can then restore as required.

I use Acronis on all my machines - set to auto-backup my main partition once a week. Works really, really well!!
