So I have been trying to install windows 8 CP with VMware but keep on getting a error code 0x80070570 "Windows cannot install required files..." I have downloaded the .iso three time with the same result, the hash seem to check out. I have seen some unconfirmed reports that MW8 does not have the required drivers for the AMD Radeon graphics cards, this seems a little weird as windows should use their own video drivers in that case, AMD have released MW8 drivers for some of the cards but I can't install them unless windows is installed first. Any ideas would be really great on how to fix this problem.

btw I did not install from DVD but straight from the .iso. Oddly the product key from the Windows 8 site don't match what I downloaded and I had to do some research to find another one that worked.

As far as I have read, the only virtual platform that supports Win8 is Oracles Virtualbox and I have successfully installed it on Virtualbox. Liked it so much that it is now my primary OS on my laptop, but a word of warning there is quite a steep learning curve.

Can not help with VMware issue as I have not tested it yet but can confirm that https://www.virtualbox.org/ works like a dream.

It even has Windows 8 on the OS selection for prepping the VM. Maybe you should try that and see if it works 1st, then you will know if its anything with your setup or just VMware related.

I am running VMWare Player + a Radeon 6850 with both the Developer Preview and now the Consumer Preview without any issues.

I installed from the ISO using the Windows 7 OS selection and it installed perfectly. IIRC, there was a product key not found error and I needed to remove the floppy drive from the VM before starting it up (weird I know).

I installed the VMWare Tools once Windows installed and it sorted out the graphics, I didn't need to install any AMD drivers and it's running in Full HD.

Installed Win8 on Vmware Player without any problems. This was on a Linux host, but with an Nvidia graphics card.

First set up the VM as being for Win7, but selected the option to install the OS later. After starting the VM then went on with installing Win8 and the VMware tools.

+1

I was battling to get Win8 running on my laptop as well, I previously had Windows Virtual PC... Got Virtualbox and boom, everything just works. Linux VM's also work very well now (had VMWare installed ages ago for Linux VM's) - VMWare always felt a bit sluggish, regardless of the OS installed. Was more than likely just my configuration though. Really cannot go wrong with Virtualbox though, give it a try.

Ok so I'm still stuck unable to install windows 8. I've tried VMware player and Virtualbox they both gave the same error. What am I doing wrong? Aaaah Help!

It turns out now it will only accept the key provided by Microsoft (DNJXJ-7XBW8-2378T-X22TX-BKG7J) Where I was using this previously (NF32V-Q9P3W-7DR7Y-JGWRW-JFCK8)

Running it on VMWare Workstation 8 on my Windows 7 gaming PC. Make sure to select "Windows 7" from the OS compatibility list pre-install.

Ok so i came to a solution. I downloaded wondows 8 32bit ( instead of 64bit ) and then tried to install with floppy disconeccted and hey presto it worked
