Not sure what the issue is, so not sure where to start or what questions to ask, so apologies for the long post...

I work remotely for a European company with loads of Zoom (and/or Teams) meetings during the day. I've been experiencing connectivity issues recently (poor sound quality, etc), and I've needed to turn my camera of during calls without much improvement.

I am using a Mac Mini M2 Pro (32GB ram) with a 4K screen and a Logitech C920S HD camera with 500mb OpenServe/Afrihost fibre line, using a Huawei Wifi AX3 router that's less than a meter away from my home office desk. I have 4 Deco wifi extenders for the house (one right next to the router in the same office).

I have to close almost all other applications when on a call; I turned off the webcam's HD to 720p; reset the router; nothing seems to work. My speedtests are consistently around 400mbps down and 200mbps up - so I don't think it's that, and I suspect it's something to do with latency, etc, etc - and that's where my knowledge ends. How and what do I test or change, do I need a VPN (never used one); is it my ISP or line provider; or what else?

We use around 2TB data per month and I know it's a lot, but nothing suspicious, only paid streaming channels in the evenings, and then of course my work which relies heavily on virtual meetings.

Is those speedtests only local or international as well?

Your problem is highlighted

Hello.

Please share the tracert or ping plotter results with the server in question so we can see the loss.

It sounds like your setup is solid, but maybe try switching to a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi for your calls to see if it helps with the stability.

4 deco's and the AX3, sounds like a lot of interference.

Why would you have a deco right next to an AP, that cant be good. Unless you have disabled Wifi on the AX3

Best is to turn off all the deco's and test with the AX3 Wifi only.

Thank you so much for this! We're making progress!

I'm not actually sure why I've been using the deco right next to the router - I think when I installed the setup almost 2 years ago (according to the Deco instructions), I assumed that the first deco needed to be very close to the router, and then the others extend to the other parts of the house. It's an old massive house with solid walls, so we definitely need the extenders everywhere.

I also connected my office setup to the closest deco instead of the router - but doing a few tests now, I see that connecting to the router is best (obviously).

I also tried a wired connection (I don't think I've ever connected with a wire since I've always been on a macbook, but now I can with the mac mini.

The wired and wireless connection directly to the router seem negligible in results - so I'll continue testing with calls to see if there's a difference.

FYI:
1) Wired to router
2) Wifi to deco
3) Wifi to router
