So, my father sent me a picture of a popup that came up on his screen while he was watching a video off the network.

Anyone have any idea what would cause this popup?
He has a Galaxy Note 2, i have not installed any Antivirus on his phone, so i believe it is just a random spam / popup caused by an app that is installed.

Yes it is common practice, that's why I have resorted to using AdFree on my phone. That way I'm protected against accidentally clicking a link and subscribing myself to a unwanted service.

However, when there is a paid version of an app I will buy it to support the developer, unfortunately in many cases adfree versions are not available.

Edit: I don't see how Google can allow ads like these, this one in particular is trying to make people think their phones are infected with a virus. My dad had the exact same ad on his phone. He frantically came to me thinking his phone was infected, he were very relieved when I told him it's only an ad trying to get him to click the link.
