I have a few friends staying over this weekend and they'd like to visit Cape Point.

Now I've never been there, so does anybody know what's worth seeing there, costs, etc.

Lots of beautiful, empty beaches where you can get some alone time if you know what I mean.

I can't remember how much it cost but it was about R90, I think. You can go take a photo at the Cape of Good Hope signboard

And there are lots of baboons so bring lots of snacks for them and keep your windows down. Sprinkle a trail of nik naks all the way to your car in the parking lot and wait.

Look, if they brought their kids with then you would've had company. Sorry sammy :p

I'll give them your advice. So sad I'm not going with to experience these wonderful creatures' sense of humour :whistling:

@OP If your friends are South African then you can make use of the Green Card

http://www.capepoint.co.za/greencard.htm

The TMNP My Green Card is available exclusively to residents of Cape Town and provides the holder with 12 free entries into any of the Table Mountain National Park’s pay points: Cape of Good Hope (Cape Point), Boulders Penguin Colony, Oudekraal and Silvermine, as well as to the braai and picnic areas at Tokai, Newlands and Perdekloof.

...

The card holder is welcome to bring along friends/family (a maximum of six (6) SA citizens may be clipped off the card on any given day– three (3) adults and two (2) children and the cardholder). Proof of ID will be required to be produced by all adults. *** Please note: that each guest brought in on the My Green Card (in addition to the main card holder) will be clipped as an entry on the card. ***

Thanks chrun! This is something I never even heard of!

Sadly they're Thai, so I reckon they're out. My wife and her sister are taking them so maybe the two of them can apply for themselves as both are born and bred in CT :)

I found it extremely expensive so did not go in. Sad really as its a nice view. They should make it a lot cheaper for SA ID holders and only charge the tourists and arm and a leg.

This is one of the reasons I have switched from CT as my main holiday destination to Durban. Better value for money. A Cape Town holiday literally costs me double what a Durban one does due to higher accommodation fees, more petrol (not their fault), and more expensive activities. Cape Town is doing a great job at attracting tourists and becoming nice but its sad to see how they are now pricing their own citizens out of the market.

you cant compare the amount of things you can do in dbn compared to cpt

there is so much more to do here

but yes cpt has become quite an expensive holiday destination and thats why i enjoy working during december

My wife I actually went there once, mind you. Some friend of mine wanted me to come hang out with them so I asked my wife to drive my drunk ass there

When we got to the entrance we realised we didn't have any money, so she just drove on all along to town.

You disgusting bastards had that meet at &Union that day and I was so drunk I probably met some of you, but someone told me I'm at the wrong place.

The monday I heard I was at the right place!
