Hi, my brother is trying to connect to a Telkom wireless router with his Vista laptop... but he cannot connect. When he connects to the network, it says limited to no connectivity... and thus he cannot go on the network...
The problem is, I have never used Vista (Mac fanboy) and I don't know how anything work...
I tried ipconfig and entered those ip adresses and submasks... but didn't work... any ideas? Or threads with the same problem I missed?

What wireless encryption are you using? I think there was a problem with Vista and WPA. Switching to WPA2 or WEP should solve it if thats the case

Well if the problem is caused by the encryption there isn't terribly much you can do except wait for a patch to come out. I must admit I haven't been following it that closely, for all I know SP1 could have fixed it.

Yes, we have the 5102 router... tried the solution, didn't work... Tried to change encryption type of router, also didn't work. Don't know what else to try...

does it work when wired direct (physically plugged in)?

Also, the 5102g being such a retarded pig of a router, restarting it a few times seems to shake it back to life I've found. Especially after the registry fix I mentioned earlier...

It works when 'n connect it with a cable... Will do all the Vista updates first and then try something new... Unplug and shake the router!

No problem - now you can get back to enjoying your mac experience!:)
