Vista Drivers, it starts

Yes there is. Installed my FM/TV card via the compatibility mode and it works fine.
 
nero will come out with something for vista give it time i think

or maybe microsoft doesnt want outside cd writing program like their security policy grrrrr
 
Well - clearly Roxio isnt an option then - and Killadoob - yes i think Nero will release something soon - they'd better!.

Hosstheboss - compatability mode will not solve your problem as i have the same crappy usb modem and tried it several months ago on Vista Beta 2 - I could be wrong as RC2 is not Beta 2...

GO BUY A ROUTER MODEM - you can afford +- R800 - yes? as for which - is up to you - i highly recommend Netgear but we all know someone will comment and trash netgear or d-link or Billion - there's always a critic!.

P.S. you would need a network port on your pc - if not - buy a network card aswell... - about R100 for wired version, R200 for wireless ;)
 
Nero is NOT supported on Vista - but i did some digging and apparently Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 works (havent installed it yet.)

I'm using Sonic RecordNow. It works great with no hassles.

Anti-Virus software is another issue... AVG installed perfectly, but causes errors as you go - the explenation : Vista takes care of its own and apparently don't need an antivirus... - absolutely hate this idea!...

Ja, thats the thing, more than willing to spend the bucks, thats not an issue, I am however one of those people that always regret a purchase cause I see something better afterwards, bought a 30gig video ipod, out come the new ones with better battery life, I posted a thread while back about samsung vs. Acer LCDs cause I know I'll buy a 19" now, and next month out comes the new one with better resolution (I enjoy my 1600x1200 on my crt, lcd's dont give that!), but thats my issue I guess, pc's will always get better, and anything you get will be old technology in a months time :rolleyes:

I'm gonna have to check these routers out, will look at the Netgear, dont know the first thing, what specs should a person look at?, cause i know you get the ones that act as hubs aswell, am I right?

I'm Quite happy with my Netgear DG834G - its a 4port hub/ADSL Wired/Wireless router. in short - you can connect 4 PC's via network cable to the router - which ofcourse distributes the net to each pc. - so the net will always be on - no "Master" computer keeping everybody online. and ofcourse the Wireless portion - not sure how many pc's you can network to this but i'm sure its a few.

Most of the popular brands out there now have similar features including ADSL 2+ support... if only... :)

as for buying something new and a week later something else pops on the shelves - yea - i feel the same - but its just one of those things. Rule of thumb - buy something you will get atleast 4 years good service out of. any extra is always bonus.
 
Hoss, as you were saying earlier, if you dont really need internet access on Vista, and you are running the two on different machines, then I have an idea to activate it.

Why not connect your ADSL modem to your XP pc, and run an ethernet cable from XP pc to Vista PC. Set up ICS on the XP pc, aactivate, and then you can get rid of the cable...

Just an idea...

Great idea, unfortunatly I'm running a dual boot, same machine, shot anyway
 
Apparently the new version of Nero (7.5.7.0) works in vista. The download is almost done, will comment.
 
Another issue that I have had with Vista is that Lightscribe drivers refuse to install, but since i am running dual boot, I just do the labels on the discs in XP. I am sure that this will be sorted out by release time though...
 
... First of all - RC2 is definately slower and more full of shyte than RC1. Yes, Nero 7.5.7.0 does install on RC2... ... takes forever, with many error messages but eventually says its successfully installed...

..... then you discover that Nero also corrupted the Windows DVD recorder drivers and if you think you can fix this with a simple driver download update or - guess again.

I now have to re-install vista!.:mad:
 
Thats a k*k one LabAnimal, that marconi driver story of mine; a mate of mine (he has one of their routers) called their head office here in SA, asking what they are going to do about Vista drivers seeing as they are handing these things out like free defected condoms to all Telkom Adsl Contract customers, all he got was a "eish, it's a problem"! When he asked to speak to the guy in charge of the whole driver story he got another "eish, it's a problem"! I don't know whats happening now regarding those that take up the 2 year Telkom contracts, if they are still being given Marconi products. But if they are and they plan on getting Vista in the next two years, then it's just another reason to run as far away from Telkom as possible

Its so funny, the moment you stick Telkom images all over your website service just goes to pot!
