Has anyone got a problem that if you insert a blank cd/dvd for writing Vista tells me the drive have to be formatted. The funny thing is that I can write ISO images with alcohol120%. I got a Liteon DVDRW writer and Vista picks up the hardware as a SCSI dvdrw, weird. In XP the drive works fine so it must be software related. I like the copy and pate writing function in Vista so I would like to use the new OS. Any ideas what it could be. Tried google and MS for help but no pleasure. Cheers:confused:

I haven't had any problems like that before. I generally do not use the Windows software to burn discs and use Nero to burn DVD's and use Deamon Tools Pro to create ISO's.

Yeah, also got this. Can't write to cd using the file explorer, but no problems using any other app. I have a pile of shiny coasters lining the bottom of my bin to prove it.

Problem I have, I can write it fine with Vista's software, but can't read it on another computer, which sucks.

There seems to be a huge bug with the disc writing in Vista ;)

Howzit Tera :)

Its not a bug, its a feature. ;)

That problem that you have may be Vista using the Live File System. I think the idea is that you can then drag and drop files onto a disc as if it was a normal drive? I don't know exactly how it works, but it does mean that non-Vista 'puters can't read your discs. You have to (in typical MS fashion) specify that you'd prefer not to use their attempt at lock-in.

More here .
