Vista for Gamers

Vista is slower than Windows XP for some applications and gaming, Tomshardware did an article about it which can be found Here
 
Should be getting Vista Ultimate early next week, bt still keeping XP PRO for a while.. Dual Boot ftw

Thats really outdated it's irrelevant considering the amount of new drivers that have been released since that was published.

The article was only written a month ago - I think it's still relevant.

I would also like to run Windows Vista on my pc one day, but not before there are decent drivers for my Audigy2 ZS Pro & NVidia graphics card. Waited one year for Creative to bring out a decent driver for my Audigy2.

There's has been 4 new driver releases since that article was written.;) Thats a large amount. Hence the article is outdated.
 
Well...I am into my PC games ;) and when I tried Vista, there was like a performance drop around the regions of about 80 frames per second (Counter Strike Source), as compared to XP.

I'm not 100% sure what it is, it could be the drivers, or just the fact that Vista is better suited for a DX10 graphics card.

I'm not fortunate enough to own an 8800 at the moment so i can't tell you if it helps at all. :)

Even with the latest drivers, games don't run too great in Vista, I would stay with XP for at least another 3 months or so.

Hence, I dual Booted my machine, so I can play games on XP, but it is fun to fool around on Vista a bit cause it is a bit faster and has better gadgets ;)
 
someone said vista is slow - not really... its pretty snappy actually, its just with games when some background application desides to take over that distroy the game play - if only i can nail the program and tell it to stop interfering.
 
I haven't noticed much of a difference. Atleast not noticable when playing fifa 2007,oblivion or nwn2.
 
Don't be fooled by THG's flawed testing methodology.
How do you compare a DX9 card with DX9 software under a DX9 environment where there's been more than 50 driver revisions over the last 5 years to;
A DX9 card with DX9 software under a DX10/ DX9 emulation environment where there's been less than 4 driver releases over the last 3 month?

Really... :/
