Hi people,

I have been having a few issues with my copy of Vista Business and need to find a way to sort it out.

Now i know the best way to get rid of issues is to re-install the OS, but i really cannot afford to do that.

So my question is can you do repair in Vista like you could in XP. I know in XP you can boot of the cd and instead of doing an install, you do a repair .

Can this be done in Vista?

Hope someone can help.

yes just boot from your vista disk and click repair from the menu that pops up

If you can remember since when you start to have the problem, do a restore from a date before you start to pick up the problem.

SeanH and Andre1 are both right. Elaborate on what the exact problem is and we might be able to shed more light.

Restore never worked for me in my repair of vista, but you might be lucky.Sometimes there is no restore point made and this will make it difficult, but what is the real problem you have

restore is a bunch or rubbish and im not sure why ppl use it

i turn it off as it can store virus's etc

mostly a repair wont help fix stuff if the problem does not lie with a corrupt windows install

it worth trying but u might just find you'll need to reload the entire system

That's an old article, and based on pretty lame tests.. actually just one test.

System restore worked fine for me the one time I had to use it, on XP though. I haven't had to use it on Vista yet but I'm sure it's about the same, better if anything. It depends what your problem is.
