Good day all

I have recently purchased a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo laptop, which was pre-installed with Vista Home Premium. I then decided to turf Vista, and install Ubuntu.

I now want to go back to Vista. I have a legitimate product key (underneath on a sticker), but I never received the installation disc for Visa in the first place.

How/Where can I download an .iso or .exe?

That is what is called an OEM install, if I am not mistaken.
Did you not get any restore CD's with the Laptop?
It should be on the restore DVD's or CD's.

Did you wipe the OS recovery partition on the HD if there was one?

Downloading the .iso is somewhat illegal and you will have no idea of any virii or trojans that come with it, you need to go through fujitsu siemens manufacturer to get support.

It is a cheap tactic used by some manufacturers, so that instead of even getting a recovery disk, you only get a recovery partition, which you can activate through a key during startup. However, Ubuntu more than likely deleted that partition as well, and without a disk, you have the problem you have now.

Best bet is to call Fujitsu-Siemens and ask for help. They should be able to supply you with the relevant disk.

YEs, the recovery partition was deleted, and no, I did not get a disc....

And downloading the .iso is exactly what I am afraid of doing, as I can't seem to find a version that is not cracked (with the virii and trojans), so I will have to contact MS or Fujitsu it seems.

Thanx for all the comments!

Also remember that few OEM keys will work with a particular distro. They sanity check a certain range against them to make sure that people are using legitimate keys.

Best and only bet: Contact Fujitsu-Siemens

Go back to the lame-@ss dealer you purchased from and demand a DVD or at least recovery media and don't forget the drivers!
In case of a drive crash, a recovery partition is useless anyway.
Peeps disributing hardware like that should be shot on sight! :D
