Vista! Oh my goodness

Just finished installing Vista Ultimate for a lady friend earlier this evening & did some in depth analysis of the OS, went through all the settings & configurations. To make a long story short, I'm not impressed at all, lol. So, yah, I will run it for a day or so 'n see, { else; =" failure ' { then ./wipe.&.give.her.some.Linux.lessons' ; } '

Headaches galore! = OS = Overkill - lol :p
 
I always find it funny when someone says that they're 'upgrading' to Vista - I always though going from one system to a worse one was 'downgrading' :p
 
I've heard they are refering to Vista as ME the 2nd. It also seems like they might release directx 10 for XP. Don't know how true the rumours is though
 
Press and hold Ctrl and E for around 10 seconds will fix it!
 
I would also like to see the indepth analysis, i have (fortunately seems to me) only been happy with Vista and the stable environment compared to my experience with XP and my numerous BSOD
 
I'm happy with Vista... had a few minor bugs, but it's been more stable than XP so far.
 
It's not a bad OS, It just needs time to mature (service packs and hardware).

The whole Vista thing is exactly what happened when XP came out back in 2001. It's only since the release of SP2 that XP got good. Go find a copy of XP (without any SP installed) and you will see just how horrible of a mess it was.

Must have been a very quick in depth analysis if it was all done after installing it and setting it up all in the same evening. ;)

Could you give us some more details of the results of the analysis?

I've been running Vista for a couple of months and I'm very happy with it. This kinda reminds me of the XP launch days. Everyone said they'll never move from 2000 or even 98. And just look now... ;)

Have to agree tho... there's new things to learn and to break... and to waste time in trying to figure out what settings did the user change to break something...

Learning is part of life though... we can't expect MS to keep operarting systems the same for our convienence for the rest of our lifes.
 
vista is basically the same as xp

yes everything has been renamed and moved around and it look nice but its a pretty looking xp spoof
 
Still boggles my mind why people are so willing to pay so much money for woftware that still needs a couple of years of maturing. Even the Beta releases of OS X 10.5 are way more "mature" than anything Microsoft has ever put out was at release time.

Some people are early adopters and some are not, that is why.

Just think about it......if it weren't for us, there would never be service packs or anything to "improve" it.

Not referring specifically to the above post - I find it strange how many people have opinions about stability issues without even trying it for themselves
 
It amazes me how many people complain about Microsoft and there products, but still use them... followed by a list of excuses of why they HAVE TOO use them.
 
PearlJam, what makes you think I haven't tried it? I *had* to so that I can help the parents over the phone. I also don't see why we the consumers have to buy a half baked product and "test" it before MS can make it work properly. They have enough employees to test their stuff in real use, and if they really need public feedback, they can make the the Betas public.

xrapidx, I do *not* use MS except for Office for Mac if, and only if someone sends me some MS Office attachment that is:
1. Unreadable by OpenOffice
2. Of life and death importance.
