I got a new work laptop with Vista with no problems on the work LAN. However, when I connect through PPPOE at home I get some weird behaviour. The connection establishes fine and I can browse for a minute or two but then it just dies. The connection is not dropped but no data goes through. I reckon it is a Vista problem cause when this behaviour starts the Network and Sharing Centre freezes, and nothing happens when I right-click the connection tray icon. So I can't even disconnect and reconnect or try to diagnose the problem.

I pretty sure the above is not related to the broadband connection as I don't have issues with my home laptop running XP.

Any ideas for sorting this out?

Please PM me if you get any answers as I'll be doing the same with the Mega105 soon, running two accounts via Wifi on two separate notebooks. Openweb on the one, and Telkom on the other.

there is some feature that needs to be turned off, I had the same problem and it took me forever to figure out what it was. I will look after work what the feature is called and PM you.

Not exactly the same - I have two laptops but only one broadband account at home.

I had a similar problem, with Screamer Wimax and I had to change the security settings of the PPPoE connection to that only PAP and CHAP is ticked.

Right click on your connection and click on properties.
Click on security
Check Advanced (custom settings)
Then check Allow these protocols and make sure that only PAP and CHAP is ticked...

Yep, I remember but not the problem as I've got the connection set to PAP & CHAP only.

Could you recall the feature to turn off?
