I wasn't getting Vista SP1 in my updates even after trying a hack. So I bought the update dvd from Sybaritic.

First attempt failed with error code 0x800F0826 and this link. I rebooted and tried update. I came up with about 10 updates for about 35MB which downloaded and installed fine. After reboot I tried update again, and SP1 was there.

I tried to install SP1 with the dvd, but it failed again with same error code and link. How is the download from the update site different for the dvd?

3 hours of my time down the drain:mad:.

Try a clean install of Vista then apply the update.

how are you updating it?

have u used the update feature in vista?

Tried the update program this evening. This piece of MS Sh*t still fails:mad:

Search the error code or whatever it tells you.

I've found that you need certain updates before installing it ;)

It didn't give any error code.

In the update program it says installation successful, but restart required to complete. On shutdown it completes step 1 and 2 of 3. On reboot, it reached 100% complete on step 3; then says service pack installation failed and reverting changes. 15 - 20 minutes later the log in screen shows up; enter details and it goes in fine, but no SP1 :(.

I got an error not similiar to yours but what I did was copy SP1 to my desktop and run the standalone install from there, the SP1 installer tends to forget what directory it was launched from apparently(so I'm told)

Edit:
And this problem is on a fresh install btw.
