um no, you're missing it entirely. What you are pointing me too is nowhere near what DX10/Vista offers me in the consumer graphics department, and you know what? I expected it to be like that and why? Because DX10 is the most advanced graphics API there is today par none. By pointing me to that you have admitted that everybody else has failed to produce such an API and so, for me and many others like me. There simply isn't anything better than Windows/DX10. The closest thing to it was GL2.0 (maybe 3.0 will be close but it'll show up in 2012, because such is the nature of open source and everyone having an opinion)

No, you just failed to provide an alternative, period.
Linux could be the best OS humans can make, but as long as it doesn't have this I'm not interested and seems millions of people agree with me on this
I'd rather put up with windows and all it's faults, just for the 5minutes where it does what I want it to do than Linux and all it's glory where at no point will it ever do what I want!

Vista is a complete redisgn of Microsofts implementation of TCP/IP, go read about the benifits of that. This is Microsoft, and they are very transparent, thus their past(and present) solidarity with regards to security.

No it's not shiny graphics. Nvidia (who is powering PS3 and powered XBOX with NV2A) seems to think this important, so does ATI. So does the company that bought ATI, so does Intel. Who have now increased their graphics department to 2K people signaling their biggest venture into graphics yet. MS also sees this as important and this was what formulated the under pinnings of what XBOX360 is. Every large game company finds this important. The DCC industry thinks it important oh and you know some people in the know actually find it important.

That you are oblivious to this does not mean it's unimportant it makes you dull rather that you cannot see past your hatred of MS when they've done something important. Past the shiny graphics I see progress, past your tunnel vision there exists nothing other than Linux. And yet still there is no equivalent on the open source platform. I can prove Windows/DX superiority and you see I have done research into this and it's probably the most important thing for me when it comes to Vista. Crytek CEO also seems to agree that the bigger selling points of Vista is this API and what he says actually means something.

So before you say "shiny graphics" get an idea what you are talking about then come back and comment until then, don't make your ignorance so apparent

No it's not clouding my vision. It's because of the advent of Computer graphics that CPUs themselves are changing it's because of this that even the movie industry is endorsing CGI. The impact of 3D graphics is far bugger than your XBox360 and is not bound by your understanding or appreciation. The brilliance that is your Xbox360 is based squarely on it's GPU and then the live service etc...
All I'm saying is don't knock what you don't understand.

No not really. After the copies of windows or it's licensae has been sold to GE, GM, etc... what continues to make money is the OS bought off the shelf or with a new home PC. There's nothing corporate there. MS has always put the end user first in it's operating system design and most people seem to appreciate that or at least I do

Well, I will say this: If you think the zero day exploits and the 3rd party vulnerabilities are gonna stop just because it's a new OS, then you are wrong. As easy as point, click, root.
Keeping it on topic, MS needs all the help they can get, this is evident by there pleeding for help at the 2 major hacker cons held this year, where infact Vista flaws were exposed on stage(infront of Microsoft networking engineers) by a young lady not but a month or two after Vista RC1 release, I have the Whitepaper right here.
Computers were created with the purpose of accessing and sharing resources, and none of this revolved around fancy GUI's that can immitate Real Life.
I'm not a Microsoft Hater, I don't hate anyone.
Further, ppl like werner proffessing that they dont need antivirus products and using a weak antivirus product like AVG to prove it are very silly,giving reasons such as not visiting dodgy areas of the net as their point of safety, I would argue against that with the example that over 1 million users were infected with malware after visiting Myspace and being exploited by the WMF zero day vulnerability, You wouldn't consider Myspace a dodgy area of the net would you, think again...server comprimized....it was infact a Linux user who discovered that exploit when visiting Myspace and being prompted(unlike the MS users) to download a file with the ext WMF.
There are ZERO day exploits out there that are for sale, there is a market for them. Bad people bay money for them, and the harsh thing about it is these arent published on BUGTRAQ or Milw0rm...these are silent and are comprimizing MS boxes all over.
