yo. i wana d/l Windows Vista Beta (microsofts legal release :) )
i want to know which one will be best to get 32bit or 64bit? considering im runnin an amd 64bit.
i have some other questions:
will CoD2, HL2, nero, nod32, firefox, thunderbird, msn, nvidia drivers, and all that jazz work on vista? and more importantly will they work on 64bit vista?
should i set up a dual boot, or is it ok to just fresh install vista as my primary OS?

any feedback and opinions from people who have already had experience with Vista (32 or 64bit) will be aprreciated.
pls help

XP drivers mostly don't work with Vista - so yes, you would have to re-download drivers. applications should work fine, if not - you should be able to find some version made for Vista.

Yes, i would setup a dual boot as i'm sure you would not be happy with Vista for a wile till you get used to it. The beta's i've had has been DOG slow and buggy, so not sure what the public release is like - but i can guarantee you that its most likely a 30day or 6 month Beta or somewhere inbetween.

as for your 32vs64bit question - no idea!.

One thing is for sure - its NOT user friendly AT ALL - and i am an experienced user, and i was B1tching most of the time about it.

My experience.

Get the 32 Bit one. Chances are you will grow tired of it pretty quickly. It is a Beta so why download anymore than you have to (64 Bit version bigger).

Last time I tried a Dual Boot with XP it did not go well. It's not a XP Dual Boot where you can just delete the OS from the boot.ini file and everything is back to normal. Vista has its own Dual Boot thingy which is a bitch to get rid of afterwards. I installed on an empty HDD.

I heard Nero doesn't work to well. I know some games won't work. Can't remember which.

Vista nForce, Catalyst and Realtek drivers are available. Could not get my Marvell LAN working so no internet :(

Dualmeister - agreed - Dual boot is a bitch to remove... however not impossible ... if you know your stuff...

MadAtter out of all honesty... Don't waste your cap downloading it now. I have... twice - the OS is simply not ready and there are PLENTY of skins and Icon packs available to make XP look like Vista. Besides, install IE7Beta 2 and Wmp11 and you're one step closer with the skins!.

... ... ... ... ... ... oh look my . button's picture is coming off ... ... ... ...........

I read that you should get the 32-bit version because there are some driver problems (and lack of drivers) for the 64-bit version.

I don't think that the Beta is stable enough for running as a primary OS, so yes I would recommend running a dual boot.

I Googled Vista Beta 2 / WinXP dual booting and couldn't come up with much :(

One thing I do like and it is waaaaay overdue is the fact Vista asks you if you want to load extra drivers during installation from a USB stick or CD / DVD ROM ect. Finally ! Die Floppy DIE
