Hi guys. Just out of interest, do any of you know the difference between the vlive and internet apn? The vlive apn on my phone has a proxy server set to 196.6.128.12 on port 8080. What does this proxy server do?

If you do a nslookup on 196.6.128.12 it resolves to wap-nat-gw.3g.vodacom.co.za.

My guess is, the WAP proxy is probably adding your MSISDN or another form of identification to the http header when you visit certain websites. The Vlive Portal can then identify your number when you download content and bill you accordingly.

See paragraph 4 of this article https://mybroadband.co.za/news/secu...g-your-number-to-every-website-you-visit.html
If the proxy is correctly setup the MSISDN should only be added to whitelisted URLs not every HTTP request.

Oh ok. So nothing special then really. Thank you :)
