Did anyone else have a problem this weekend with VM.
I could connect to virgin - after witch the speed would drop to 0.( It is like watching a space shuttle launch- 10, 9, 8.....)
The people at 123 said that
1. there is a problem with the gprs
2. there is a lot of people logging in
3. Phone them on Monday

I need to figure out if it the mdem or the service

An:confused: yone?

I fink it's Virgin...

cos as luck would have it, I finally setitup this weekend, using my Samsung D600 as a modem and it was pathetically slow even with pictures turned off on my browser, I thought that this was Virgin speed all the time, mind you, Vodacom GPRS was also very slow this weekend...

For those of you who have used Virgin, is it normally that slow?

I have had it for two months - and except for one weekend when they did some server upgrade - I have had relatively few problems- the speed has actually improved over the last month-

I spoke to a gentleman the morning at their data helpdesk- he said the Cell C had problems - but that it had been sorted out - tested it 'bout an hour ago - still not working

Well, it doesn't look like Mobile Internet (Vodacom, MTN, Cell-C and Virgin Mobile) will be able to replace fixed line or wireless internet in the near future.

It's fine for checking e-mail every now and then but definately not to replace my Wireless Online internet connection.

These past weekend I was only able to use MTN GPRS/EDGE. Vodacom was down, wouldn't even connect and Virgin Mobile was very slow.

I think it can, and it has for me. I got my datacard in June, I cancelled my Telkom line a week later.

MTN's GPRS/EDGE has been the most reliable for me. I can get Vodacom 3G in my area, but its just too expensive. With a bit of luck I'll MTN HSDPA within the next few months.
