Hi there

See the following post.http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=584487&postcount=8

A number of guys have been waiting for the new sims. They told me 1 week, but two weeks max. So I have waited two weeks. I have emailed the data services email adress. No reply. Thats not good enough.

Sir Branson, your company is not keeping its promises and is tarnishing, no trashing its good name. Service, service, service.

Come on deliver the new sim. I want to spend money with you. Why dont you want it? If you reply within 24 hours then hellopeter.

yeah I am in the same boat. They just dont get back to me....maybe they dont have the answers themselves. I sit with a VM sim with R150 credit on it which i only want to use for data but I have been waiting 2 weeks now and still cant use a cent of it.

Funny, I made a comment on www.hellopeter.com and it wasn't even a hour and they replied to me.

I don't really have a problem with the service from VM. They are new. Don't always blame the company. Blame the people. And not all the people working there are to blame.

Be patient guys. You guys probably forgot about the days when Vodacom, that's been around for years, had problems with their connections. If Vodacom and MTN can have problems with connections and reliability then I suppose Virgin Mobile can have too.

I struggled to connect to VM but with the extra connection string managed to connect. But now I get errors 619 and 31 when trying to connect with my Motorola V547. Is this the same SIM error that you are experiencing with the datacards?

I have had a reply to my query on hellopeter as well. I have recieved email from them as well as a reply on the webpage. I dont mind if there is a stuff up -- thats human and to be expected especially when one is getting something new off the ground. How one deals with it is what seperates the men from the boys.

They have promised to try and get new sims asap -- their supplier has let them down. Cant help that now can they.

Lets give VM a chance. However it would be nice if they kept us informed and not like mushrooms.

Okay guys, could you please clarify the sim issue? I'm having trouble with mms and gprs not working, could my sim be defective? I'm not using my phone as a modem tho.

What phone your using. I know there are issues with Samsung and some 3G phones.

I'm using a nokia 5100, it works fine on vodacom ;)

Did you change your access point to vdata?

LOL! that sounds funny, I have about 15 v.data access points from receiving the settings, I got settings from Virgin, from nokia on the web (which is basically the same thing) and it doesn't work, why would mms not work either?

And I assume you did phone Virgin Mobile to activate data on your sim?

Isn't the VM sims activated for data out of the box? I don't think I had to activate data when I started using mine.

Yep, confirmed that with about 5 phone calls :)

VM Responding

I got a call from Vm and they will be sending a temporary replcament sim tomorrow. it a different number but has R50 loaded on it. It was said to me that i should only use it in a datacard, but that it needed to be activated in a cell phone by making a 10 sec call first. So it seems it will work in a cell as well.

Cant wait to be charged R 0.5 per mB instead of R 2 per Mb. Cell C , MTN and Vodacom had better wake up. VM is fixing its teething issues and looks like real competition. It 3 to 4 months when the network goes 3G the others are going to look very bad.
